A day in Słubice (2011)

Słubice, in Poland, is a small town with a quite tumultuous history, right on the border with Germany. Every day, hundreds of Germans cross the bridge over the river Oder, that marks the border, to do cheap shopping on the 'Polish Market'. You can buy anything here: petrol and cigarettes of course, but also food, clothes and miscellaneous items, and you can even have a quick haircut or plastic surgery. Most visitors go straight to the market and back. I decided to spend a day there, just wandering around the town, watching and trying to get a sense of the people of Słubice. Here's just a small selection from the pictures I took.
